Lankes om bibliotek som en rörelse

Nuförtiden kan många folkbiblioteket ses som en insats som samhället gör för att förbättra förutsättningarna för invånarna genom kunskap. David Lankes berättar här om folkbiblioteksverksamhetens fortsatta utveckling till att bli en proaktiv kraft för det goda samhället vilket kommer att förändra bl a bibliotekspersonalens kompetenser.

”No matter how well we document it, or call it a best practice, or try and turn it into a downloadable toolkit, it won’t work. It is meant to guide, instruct, and inspire you. You, the librarian, your job is to see what will work in your community. That’s the difference from the era of the Book palace. Rather than trying to connect similar to similar – to make a suite of unified and undifferentiated services for all, the networks of today have to train librarians to adapt, not adopt. The network supports and inspires.”
